How long does a new Shopify site take to build?
It depends on the specifics of each project, but as a guideline: setting up a new store and installing and customising a pre-built theme can be done in about 1 week. Building a custom unique theme takes a bit longer with the design and build process, but projects are typically completed between 2 and 4 weeks.
Do I need a Shopify account to get started?
No. We can use our partner developer access to setup and build your Shopify store and give you the relevant access to preview the work. Once you are happy, we transfer the build to you as the new owner, and will guide you throughout that process.
What do you need from me to get started?
We need your thoughts and ideas on how you want your Shopify store to look and function. Maybe you have a specific idea, or have seen another site you like aspects of which you would like to incorporate, or maybe you just want us to come up with some fresh ideas. Either is fine. We’ll take whatever ideas you have and build out some design concepts for you to review before turning the designs into fully functioning code.
If you have and images or text content that you want to be included you can send that to us to incorporate into the deigns.
If you have an existing Shopify site that you would like us to work on, we will just need you to approve a request from our Shopify Partner account for ‘collaborator access’ so we can access the core files we need. We’ll guide you through that process.
Are there any ongoing fees?
Not from us. You will need to continue paying Shopify for your chosen plan and can see the current Shopify pan fees here. You may choose some additional apps to build on the functionality of your website, some of which may charge an ongoing fee for some services.
Do I need to arrange hosting?
No, hosting and support is provided with the fee that you pay to Shopify. You can see their plan costs here.
Do I need to arrange a web domain/website address?
With your ongoing fee that you pay Shopify they provide you with a domain name for free, which will be something along the lines of mystorename.shopify.com. Most Shopify store owners choose to purchase a more relevant and professional domain name from an external domain name provider which can start at a couple of pounds a year; if you choose to do this we can help hook your domain up to your Shopify site.
What are Shopify Apps?
Shopify Apps are add on extensions to the standard ecommerce functionality that Shopify provides. There are thousands of apps available at different price points to build on store features such as product management, customer relations, marketing and promotions. If Shopify doesn’t do something ‘out of the box’ that you require, there’s a good change there will be an app available to fulfil that need.
